about

FT is proud to announce the reissue of two Max D EPs, together at last, as Shaping & Drizzling Glass.

2014's Drizzling Glass and 2015's Shaping EPs are two of the finest gems in the Max D catalog, originally released via The Trilogy Tapes and Off Minor, respectively.

Both are EPs that used the full potential of the format, each sounding like miniature planets full of new house music ideas, twists, and turns. They were made during the same time period in the studio, and they really link together now, more than 5 years on from their release. We are combining them into the future as the digital album "Shaping & Drizzling Glass."

The Shaping EP (OMR05) makes up the first four songs. "Circles Bubbles" starts things off by throwing the ingredients of house and techno off the mountain and then jumping down to get them in the air. Its full of mechanical swirls and jittering DX bubbles that burst and reformat constantly. "Zsa Flex Cathedral" is some sort of broken beat New Order swell. "Immunity" and "She" are some of the most out Max tunes in the catalog.

"Jubilee" starts the Drizzling Glass (TTT019) run, with syncopated live Simmons drums going wild against arpeggios and short circuits. It ends with "Calvin & Hobbes" and "Pop Song" two songs made of the same elements, and some of Max's most demure and weird plastic atmospheres, "Calvin..." in particular a forest bubblezone that ups the humidity.

"Shaping & Drizzling Glass," together at last, bringing unity to the system.
